DIABLO BLVD Sign to Nuclear Blast + Lyric Video Released & New Album Coming in January!

October 20th, 2014 by njroach

Nuclear Blast is proud to announce the signing of Belgium’s finest – anthemic grooving rock/metal outfit DIABLO BLVD!

Formed in 2005 with all members hailing from the city of Antwerp, Belgium, the band is named after a CORROSION OF CONFORMITY song and lead by notorious stand-up comedian and singer Alex Agnew. With current and ex-members of bands like A BRAND, BORN FROM PAIN and MEURIS, this eclectic five-piece quickly started to turn heads and playing shows to appreciative crowds all over Belgium and the Netherlands.

Building on groovy riffs, catchy choruses and a charismatic stage presence, DIABLO BLVD offers what made their heroes great within a wide range of influences from the heavy genre (like DANZIG, THE CULT, GUNS ‘N’ ROSES, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY and TYPE O NEGATIVE), classic rock and even blues.

After two successful full-length albums and numerous celebrated shows around Europe DIABLO BLVD went to the legendary ICP studios in Brussels with producer Ace Zec to record the brand new album Follow The Deadlights in collaboration with the American duo Jay Ruston (mix) and Paul Logus (mastering) who have previously been behind the sound of ANTHRAX, STONE SOUR, MEATLOAF and STEEL PANTHER.

Commented the band: “Everybody! We are absolutely thrilled to announce that we’re going to join the Nuclear Blast family for our first world-wide release. Signing to Nuclear Blast is like getting the hot chick everybody wants. They were our first choice when we started looking for a deal and to see it actually coming through still feels unreal. So a big thank you to everyone involved for making it happen and we hope to see you all in 2015.” - DIABLO BLVD

Follow The Deadlights is planned for release January, 2015 via Nuclear Blast.

The official lyric video for the first single off the album, ‘Rise Like Lions’, can now be streamed at this location:

“If you want something new that will absolutely blow you away, look no further than DEAD LABEL. It’s impossible to sit still while listening! This is a band that gives you a proper kick in the ass! DEAD LABEL is everything you want in a metal band—heavy, fast, and catchy—wrapped up in a neat, no-gimmicks package. Check these guys out!” – Gabby Canella, Music Choice

Irish modern thrashers DEAD LABEL are back with a vengeance this fall – announcing a brand new album, Throne Of Bones, and kicking off a full U.S. tour!

The band’s new album, Throne Of Bones, is set to hit stores via Nuerra Records in early 2015. Tracking for the album was just completed at EastWest Studios and Sonora Recorder’s in southern California. Throne Of Bones is produced by Michael Phelan with co-production from Chris Rakestraw (Danzig, Parkway Drive, Bring Me The Horizon/also credited as head engineer) and DEAD LABEL. The album is set for mixing by Ben Grosse (Disturbed, Slipknot, Filter) at The Mix Room in Burbank, CA.

The first single, ‘Salvation in Sacrifice’, will be released to radio soon!

“I may be biased here, but this album is the best thing we have put down,” states singer Dan O’Grady. “I feel like this is the first real DEAD LABEL album, something that is starting to sculpt our sound. Everyone, from the band to the production team, has gone above and beyond the call of duty and I personally want to thank everyone for their dedication to this project. I think with this record we have created a mile stone that will withstand the test of time. You cannot hide a good record and this is exactly that. I’m so proud of what we have created and I cannot wait to share it with the world.”

Throne of Bones Track Listing:

1. Throne of Bones

2. Salvation in Sacrifice

3. Exhume The Venom

4. The Birth of Suffering

5. The Cleansing

The band promises that their upcoming album will be a fresh update to the sound heard on their 2013 Nuerra Records release, Sense Of Slaughter. You can purchase Sense Of Slaughter in full here, or stream it via Spotify. You may recognize the biggest single from Sense of Slaughter, entitled ‘Self-Immolation’, which landed at #15 on the CMJ Loud Rock chart, receiving heavy radio and internet exposure in the UK, Europe, Stateside and Japan.

Earlier this year, DEAD LABEL released their brand new single, ‘It Burns Within’. The track appears on the band’s currently untitled full-length release, coming soon. You can purchase ‘It Burns Within’ on iTunes here, or stream it via Soundcloud here. ‘It Burns Within’ is mixed by Brian Virtue (All That Remains, Shadows Fall, Nonpoint).

DEAD LABEL comes from modest beginnings, but are anything but quiet. Shortly after forming and winningthe All Ireland Battle of the Bands “The Crypt Trials” in 2009, DEAD LABEL released a self-titled EP in October 2010. They quickly began performing at festivals and events around Europe— appearing in Belgium and Czech Rep., with a recent appearance at Aggressive Music Fest in 2013.

Traversing even farther from home, DEAD LABEL was invited to perform at “Rocktoberfest” in Okinawa, Japan, where they played to a crowd of 8,000 people in the first year. This marked the band’s biggest performance yet! The second year that the band was invited, the US Government experienced their wide shutdown, which indirectly caused the festival to be cancelled. Regardless, the band travelled the distance to Okinawa and fulfilled their performances to local fans in several area clubs. Now that’s dedication!

In addition to those performances, DEAD LABEL also supported metal heavy weights Machine Head in their home country last year. Check out a fan-filmed live performance in Dublin with Machine Head here:

7th annual New Jersey Zombie Walk takes on a great matter – Grey Matter, that is

October 3rd, 2014 by njroach

This weekend’s 7th annual New Jersey Zombie Walk takes on a great matter – Grey Matter, that is – with their current focus on spreading awareness of brain cancer. Last year, the Zombie Walk gathered roughly 9,500 zombies, reclaiming the Guinness World Record, and this year the walk aims to gather even more zombies while raising awareness for a good cause. Read further for more information on how they are saving your braaaaiinnsss…

Show up early! The festivities begin at 10:00AM on October 4th, with the actual walk starting at 4:00PM. Zombies will gather on the Asbury Park Boardwalk in full costume. They will begin lurching down the Boardwalk, towards the Carousel House. From there, they will turn and head up Cookman Avenue, shambling towards the Downtown and Press Plaza. At 6:00PM, the main stage events and Zombie Street Fair begin! See below for more on the day’s events, or visit

Raising awareness of brain cancer:

The dead aim to save the living by concentrating on keeping New Jersey educated about brain cancer, specifically by focusing on benefiting select local programs. This year’s campaign will benefit Camp Jinka, a free summer program for children and teenagers whose lives have been impacted by brain cancer. This amazing retreat encourages a connection with others who are experiencing similar life altering events. All the kids of Camp Jinka are residents of New Jersey and each camper brings with them a different story. Some are fighting a brain tumor themselves, others are trying to help a parent through treatment, some are survivors, but all of them are strong fighters! Donate to Camp Jinka here:

Why the brain cancer focus? Sadly, NJZW’s very own Co-Director, Mariel, aka Zombie Momma, lost her Mom to brain cancer after a courageous two year fight. In lieu of Zombie Momma’s devastating loss, she discovered Camp Jinka and felt an immediate connection with the kids of the camp. She soon learned they are funded purely on donations. With the help of our undead army we can achieve the impossible. Remember, as zombies, if we can catch it… we kill it!

In addition to waging the war on cancer, this year’s walk has a few new surprises for our beloved undead community:

The tent will be a major Zombie Walk hotspot! The Premier Theatre Company of Asbury Park is sponsoring a Tricky Tray fundraiser with ALL proceeds going to Camp Jinka!  Sheets of 25 tickets will be on sale for $10. And the prizes? You wouldn’t believe how amazing… check out the New Jersey Zombie Walk site for a list of donors!

There is a new horror in town and it’s called Haunted Hall. Townsquare Media is proud to present a new haunted attraction filled with twists, turns, surprises, and all things that go bump in the night. NJZW is excited to bring its loyal army this demo of Haunted Hall. Pricing is $8 for zombies and $15 for the living survivors. Be sure to come back any time after October 10th to get the full haunted experience. It’s the undead’s turn to fear the darkness.

After you stumble your way downtown in search for brains, just after sunset, the sky will rain blood. A red fireworks show will take place right on Asbury Park’s beach. Make sure you lurk back to the boardwalk because this show was created just for our zombies!

The annual raucous will proceed as it does every year with some returning events such as the Undead Festival, a bazaar of the bizarre. This year’s New Jersey Zombie Walk will feature 50+ vendors and artists who are dedicated to all things horror, bringing you spooky goods to take home. Some of Asbury’s most popular restaurants and shops will be offering zombie-friendly menus, dinner specials, and discounts.

Coming from out of town? The New Jersey Zombie Walk is partnering with local hotels to get the best rates possible for zombies coming to the Undead Festival! There are so many things lined up for this year you’re not going to want to miss a single moment of the fun!

Hearing stories from friends about zombie walks in other cities around the world, and finding no zombie walk within the Garden State with which to join, he was inspired to create one himself right in their own backyard. Jason, a professional photographer by day, continues to organize the event annually in cooperation with the Asbury Park Chamber of Commerce.

I AM GHOST Founder Steve Juliano Fronts REQUIEM

October 3rd, 2014 by njroach

In a genre full of what seems like endless repetition and cookie cutter copy-cats, most modern metalcore bands fail when attempting to combine heavy style with genuinely catchy and well-written music.

Enter Santa Cruz, CA’s REQUIEM, who have successfully squashed the listening public’s generalized expectations by putting out music so haunting that it not only caught the attention of countless new fans, but also major label imprint Cleopatra Records (E1). The label will release the band’s brand new album, The Unexplainable Truth, on October 28, 2014! A pre-order for digital and physical copies will be unleashed soon!

Don’t confuse REQUIEM as a group of newcomers, either. The band features vocalist Steve Juliano of former Epitaph Records powerhouse band I Am Ghost, Daisy Rock Guitars-sponsored guitarist/vocalist Jacklyn Paulette, and Pearl-sponsored drummer Rick Siegfried, amongst their full line-up.

Revolver Magazine gives us a taste of The Unexplainable Truth today with the new track ‘Where the Hell Did the Romance Go?’ – listen here:

“‘Where the Hell Did the Romance Go’ is a classic example of the feelings you encounter during the ending stages of your romantic relationship with someone, which we can all relate to pretty well,” offers vocalist/guitarist Jacklyn Paulette.

The Unexplainable Truth combines dark melodies and soaring orchestras with vicious metal guitars and bass. Recorded by the band themselves in Santa Cruz, CA at Sonic Shark Studios, the album was also mixed by JD Keiser at Laughing Lion Productions, and mastered by Nakasaki Sound. Stepping forward as visionaries while most bands are still trying to catch up in the scene, REQUIEM are set to unleash and album that will change your views of what “metalcore” should be.

Vocalist Steve Juliano adds, “This is the most personal album I have ever written, and it helped me regain enough strength and passion to dwell back into music. I had given up, to be quite honest, but I had one last thing to say to everyone before saying goodbye. This was originally going to be my last hurrah, but after letting everything out, it pulled me back in. Music saved my life once again.”
