TRIPTYKON to release second album ‘Melana Chasmata’ in 2014

October 23rd, 2013 by njroach

TRIPTYKON is the occult/avant-garde metal band formed by Hellhammer/Celtic Frost singer, Tom Gabriel Warrior. After his exit from Celtic Frost in 2008, Warrior is proud to announce the groups’ second album, Melana Chasmata, set to be released on April 15 in North America. The album’s release will is a collaboration between the group’s own label, Prowling Death Records Ltd., and renowned metal giant Century Media Records. This is the same label partnership already responsible for Celtic Frost’s final album, Monotheist (2006), Hellhammer’s Demon Entrails demo compendium (2008), and Triptykon’s debut album, Eparistera Daimones, and Shatter EP (2010).

Melana Chasmata is evolving to be a vastly varied and strikingly dark and heavy album. The album’s title may be translated, approximately, as “black, deep depressions/valleys”.

Songwriting, arrangement, and recording sessions for Melana Chasmata occurred, intermittently, since 2011. Among the music available for inclusion on the album are songs such as Boleskine House, Stasis, Gate To My Own Death, Demon Pact, Gehinnam, Tree Of Suffocated Souls, Unchristian Anthem, and many more. A final track listing for Melana Chasmata will be issued in due course, along with further details on both album and artwork.

Much like Eparistera Daimones, Melana Chasmata is being produced by Tom Gabriel Warrior and Triptykon guitarist V. Santura, and recorded and engineered by V. Santura at his own Woodshed Studio in Bavaria, Germany, as well as at Triptykon’s bunker in Zurich, Switzerland.

Tom Gabriel Warrior: “We have been working on Melana Chasmata for some three years, in various shapes and forms. It’s not an easy album by any means, and to me personally it reflects an extremely complex gestation period, musically, spiritually, and, due to certain circumstances in my life, emotionally. At the same time, the album unquestionably reflects the continuity I was longing for so much during Celtic Frost’s period of self-destruction and demise. Hearing Triptykon creating such utter darkness again and exploring the potential of these new songs has been incredibly invigorating and inspiring.”

TRIPTYKON consists of V. Santura (guitar, vocals), Norman Lonhard (drums, percussion), Vanja Slajh (bass), and Tom Gabriel Warrior (voice, guitars).

Pain Savior ‘Dead Weight on a Dying Planet’ album review

October 12th, 2013 by njroach

Recently I had the pleasure of meeting with vocalist Elvin Rodriguez who hand delivered a copy of the upcoming full length release by Pain Savior entitled Dead Weight on a Dying Planet due out on Halloween 2013 and available now for preorder at

Who is Pain Savior you ask? Well, the core of Pain Savior consists of Tracy Grijalva better known as Tracy G the ex-guitarist for the one and only Ronnie James Dio who handles double duty of playing guitar and bass on the album and on vocals you have Elvin Rodriguez (Black Wing Haze, Shock to the System).

Together Tracy G and Elvin set off on a long distance musical journey that culminated in the creation of this monster called Pain Savior! The album features a slew of guest drummers, one being Ray Luzier of Korn fame who is featured on four tracks on the album. Other guest drummers include Bob Buchler, Rick Ritzler, Dave Chuchian and Gary Farano. Randy Oviedo long time bass player for The Tracy G Band contributes his bass skills on the song Bedlam.

The album opens with the song NO GOD BUT I, a heavy groove laden track that exposes the demon that is ripping you apart without any remorse. It’s a dark, heavy, killer song. Be afraid! RED SCARE  follows the opening track like a chugging death machine that will attack you, and make you feel that Death is at the door ready to take you to your final fate. LAST WORDS and PUSHING THE NEW MACHINE follow as they lead you to KNEEFACE  a hard hitting, grooving tune that pummels you from beginning to end with angry vocals and punchy rhythms. Beware the KNEEFACE as you enter into a state of BEDLAM the next track that questions your sanity in this world of insanity. PAIN SAVIOR  this song is a haunting, tragic journey of pain and self introspection. This song is not like the others as it is a slow melancholy song that rips your soul apart and only the Pain Savior can save you!…or NOT! SOUL TAKER is a slow tempo, heavy song that’s begs the question…Is there any innocence left in youth? On POISON IS THE MEDICINE Tracy G shows you that you can be heavy and still have melody in guitar playing. MASTER OF LIES and SHADES OF DARKNESS lead you to the MURDERHOLE a slow, heavy tune that leaves you wondering if you are standing on solid ground. The album closes with LIFE…BEYOND THE BLACK which showcases Ray Luzier’s expertise and keen sense of rhythm behind the drum kit.

Dead Weight on a Dying Planet was recorded at The G Factory Studio in La Puente, California by Tracy G, with vocals being recorded at The Forge Studios in Roselle, NJ by Matt Westlake. Dead Weight on a Dying Planet will be released this Halloween and you can preorder it now at

Make sure to like Pain Savior’s Facebook page to stay updated on the release and all the other goodies that they have in store for you!

Queensrÿche film mini movie “Queensrÿche: Ad Lucem”

October 6th, 2013 by admin

Legendary Seattle rockers, Queensrÿche recently filmed a ‘mini movie’ with the tracks, “Spore” “Midnight Lullaby” “A World Without” and “X2″ providing the score to a 10-plus minute story, dubbed Queensrÿche: Ad Lucem. The film was created by Veva Entertainment Co. with director Daniel Andres Gomez Bagby and producer Marco De Molina and was filmed last month on location at Central City Stages in Los Angeles. Todd La Torre, vocalist for Queensrÿche has issued the following statement:

“We decided to take a different approach with this video, which is comprised of four pieces of music from our latest self-titled release, Queensrÿche.  It’s a conceptual mini-movie music video that invites the audience to scratch beneath the surface a bit, rather than the usual “chewed food” that so many are used to being fed.  We really wanted to deviate from a performance type of video so the music and story-line could be the main focus.”

La Torre also adds, “The overall theme of the song Spore is one that deals with personal demons, relationship struggles, career pressures, personal/professional morals and ethical dilemmas.  These are issues we all face on some level and the video touches upon them all.  Midnight Lullaby/A World Without deals with the loss of a mother during childbirth, leaving a father as a single parent and struggling to move forward through the turmoil. X2, though it opens up our album, provides for a nice outro to it all. The end result is a roller coaster of emotion in an effort to find a healthy resolve. Given our history, we feel that this multifaceted conceptual video, along with a great cast of actors to suit, will really resonate with our fans.”

Queensrÿche first burst onto the music scene in 1982 with the release of their self-titled 4 song EP Queensrÿche. They very quickly gained international recognition and performed to sold out audiences around the world. With the follow up first full-length album “The Warning” in 1984, and the ground breaking 1986 release of “Rage For Order”, Queensrÿche continued to prove their worldwide dominance as one of the most respected and creative bands of the 80′s. In 1988 the band turned out yet another monumental album “Operation: Mindcrime”, which would go on to become one of the TOP 10 best-selling concepts records of all time, and set the stage for continued sold out performances around the world. With the release of the critically acclaimed and commercially successful “Empire” in 1991, the band earned multiple Grammy Award nominations and won the MTV “viewer’s choice” award for the #1 chart topping hit “Silent Lucidity”. During the next ten years, the band continued to release albums and tour the world to sold-out audiences. Queensrÿche has sold over 30 million albums worldwide and have continued to break new ground and push their creative process.

Queensrÿche is:

Todd La Torre (vocals)

Michael Wilton (guitars)

Parker Lundgren (guitars)

Eddie Jackson (bass)

Scott Rockenfield (drums)

Russian Band LOUNA Robbed During Second Week of Tour in Dallas, TX

October 6th, 2013 by njroach

Russian hard rock band LOUNA is currently on tour in the United States with The Pretty Reckless and Heaven’s Basement. Today, in Dallas, TX, the band’s touring van was unfortunately robbed of passports, unique DVD merchandise, MP3 players, computers (one of the SILVER Macbook serial numbers is SW89521YF66D, if found), cash, and many other personal belongings by a currently unknown individual. The band and crew are missing nearly all of their personal items that they came to America with. The only things that weren’t stolen were items actually attached to the vehicle.

This incident occurred between 12:30PM and 1:00PM TODAY, October 4, 2013 in the parking lot outside of a restaurant in Caruth Plaza in Dallas, just yards from where the band was standing.

LOUNA is relying on American law enforcement to assist them in locating the individual that robbed them of their much-needed items. As a band from another country, it is even more of a struggle to be without their personal belongings with weeks of touring left to complete. The band is charging on, but they need assistance of law enforcement and fans in order to bring down the individual that committed this crime.

PLEASE NOTE: If anyone finds any of the 28 live DVD’s that were stolen from LOUNA in a pawn shop or sold on the street, it was stolen in this robbery and should be reported to the authorities.

If there is any possibility that anyone has any information on the whereabouts of this person, or anyone saw anything suspicious in the aforementioned area, please contact us to pass information to the band.

Thank you.
